Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Kodikunnil Suresh, on Thursday, said Bidar, Mysore and Chikmagalur districts, currently out of the Employees State Insurance (ESI) coverage will be brought under the scheme soon.
Briefing reporters, after inaugurating ESIC Sub-Regional Office in Mangalore, he said a survey is under progress in the three districts to study various aspects before introducing the scheme.
The districts will be included under ESI coverage after survey. ESI hospitals will be built in these districts for the welfare of the labour class.
On plans to introduce uniform minimum wages for employees, he said a draft on National Floor Level Minimum Wages has been prepared and under consideration by the law ministry.
The Act, if introduced, will not only fix the minimum wages for unorganised workers, but also make various dearness allowances mandatory.
