Intercity train to be introduced between Bidar and Hyderabad

South Central Railway will run an intercity express train between Bidar and Hyderabad. The train will start from Bidar at 7 a.m. and reach Hyderabad at 10.15 a.m. It will leave Hyderabad at 6 p.m. and reach Bidar by 9.45 p.m. The date of commencement will be announced later, said a release.

Leaders and organisations here have welcomed the move. Bidar Zilla Samagra Abhivruddhi Vedike president Srikant Swamy has thanked the Railways and the leaders who fought for the introduction of the train.

“This will boost business and tourism in the district. It will also help the hundreds of labourers and petty traders who depend on the Hyderabad market. This train will be very useful to people who visit hospitals in Hyderabad for treatment,” Khaji Arshed Ali, former MLC, said.

. “The train schedule could not have been better. It will allow traders to reach Hyderabad when the markets open and come back to Bidar by night ,” Mr. Ali said. “We are both happy and sad,” said Bidar Chamber of Commerce and Industries president B.G. Shetkar. A delegation led by N. Dharam Singh, MP, had met the then Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi in October with two demands. “We had sought the introduction of an intercity train between Bidar and Hyderabad and changing the schedule of the Nanded-Bangalore express to make it an overnight train from Bidar. The Minister had promised to consider our demands. The Railways has accepted the first demand but not the second. Currently, the Nanded express takes over 18 hours to reach Bangalore from Bidar, covering 730 km at just 35 km an hour. We need a train that will reach in less than 12 hours,” Mr. Shetkar, who was a member of the delegation, said. “We hope the Railways will consider our request for changing the schedule of the Nanded express,” Mr. Singh said.
