Government yet to implement decisions taken at Cabinet meeting in Gulbarga 2008

The B.S. Yeddyurappa Government, which is all set to hold the Cabinet meeting in Gulbarga on Monday, is yet to implement decisions taken during the maiden Cabinet meeting in Gulbarga in 2008 pertaining to the development of Bidar.
Special grant
The first decision is regarding the release of a Rs. 136-crore special grant to develop Bidar for the Gur Ta Gaddi celebrations. The grant was meant for improving infrastructure at pilgrimage places in Bidar. The amount was to be shared by the Union Government and the State Government. However, only the Centre's share of Rs. 75 crore has been received till now.
The Government had approved the release of the first instalment of Rs. 91 crore (State Government's share of Rs. 16 crore and Centre's share of Rs. 75 crore) but released only Rs. 75 crore in 2008. In 2009, the State Government wrote to the district administration to plug the cost at Rs. 75 crore. However, the district administration said that it had already awarded tenders for Rs. 91 crore. It requested that the full amount be released soon but the State Government is yet to take any action.
Secondly, the State Government is yet to keep its promise of paying an additional Rs. 100 crore to the Railways to lay the Bidar-Gulbarga railway line. “The Government has not released the matching grants for the budget year 2010-2011,” said Congress MLC Khaji Arshed Ali.

Soon Bidar will have a Mini-Vidhana Soudha

Source: The Hindu (http://hindu.com/2010/10/05/stories/2010100557030300.htm)

With the State Cabinet giving administrative approval for a mini-Vidhana Soudha in Bidar, a long-pending demand of this backward district has been met.
All the five taluk headquarters in the district have such office complexes, barring the district headquarters. Only important offices like those of the Deputy Commissioner, the police, and the zilla panchayat have their own buildings.
Most of the other 40 district-level offices are housed in private buildings here. This has affected the district in two ways. One, the Government continues to pay hefty rent for these office spaces.
Hardship
Two, people coming here from villages are put to hardship. They do not know the location of each office and hence have to search for them.
Also, they need to move from one office to another and from one end of the city to the other.
For example, the Department of Sericulture is at Kolhar, around 10 km from the city.
The Department of Fisheries is on Mannalli Road, 6 km from the city. The distance between the office of the Social Welfare Department and that of the Women and Child Welfare Department is about 15 km.
Promise
Chief Minister B S. Yeddyurappa had promised to build an office complex at a cost of Rs. 5 crore.
However, work has not started yet.
The Bidar Development Forum has welcomed the decision of the Cabinet.
“We will be happy if the Government completes the office complex early,” said its member Ramesh Biradar.
