‘Mars mission has raised interest in science’

The success of the Mars mission has generated a considerable amount of interest in science research among young people, ISRO scientist Raju Hutton said in Bidar.

The Associate Vehicle Director at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvanantapuram, was speaking to students of Gnyana Sudha Vidyalaya in Bidar. He explained about the Mars Orbiter Mission and explained how such explorations would help advance science. He also revealed how systematic work by a team of dedicated scientists ensured that the spacecraft travelled for over 11 months to reach the Mars orbit. He asked young people to consider scientific research as a career option and urged them to focus on the dangers of climate change and think of solutions.

School committee president Poornima G., director Munishwara Lakha, principals Sunita Swamy and Sanju Hulloor and others were present.

ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಿಗೆ ಕೋಟೆ ಹತ್ತಿರವಾಗಿಸಲು ಕಸರತ್ತು

ಬೀದರ್‌ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಕೋಟೆ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾನ್‌ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ


ಬೀದರ್: ನಗರದ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ, ಪರಂಪರೆ­ಯನ್ನು ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಚುರ ಪಡಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸ ಈಗ ತುಸು ವೇಗ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ಇದರ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ಕೋಟೆ ಅಂಗಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಸಿರು ಹೊದಿಕೆ ಹೊದಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ನಗರಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುವ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೋಟೆ ಮೊದಲ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆ. ಬಹಮನಿ ಆಡಳಿತ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾದ ಈ ವಿಶಾಲ ಕೋಟೆ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಬರುವ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಕೋಟೆ ಅಂಗಳವನ್ನು ಸುಂದರ­ವಾಗಿಸು­ವುದು, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಹ್ಲಾದಕರ ಅನು­ಭವ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು ಇದರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ.

ಕೋಟೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದ, ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾದ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾನ್‌ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಪುರಾತತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ವೇ­ಕ್ಷಣಾ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಸುಪರ್ದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕೋಟೆ ಇದ್ದು, ಸದ್ಯ ಸುಮಾರು ₨ 4 ಲಕ್ಷ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಾನ್‌ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪಡಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.

ಈಗ ನೀರು ಹರಿವಿನ ಪೈಪು, ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಮಣ್ಣು ತುಂಬಿಸಿ, ಭೂಮಿ ಹದ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಸಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಸಿರು ಹುಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಾಸು ಹೊದೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರವೇಶದ ಆರಂಭ­ದಲ್ಲೇ ಕೋಟೆ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ­ವಾಗಿಸದೇ ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು ಇದರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ. ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿದೆ’ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಪುರಾತತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ವೇಕ್ಷಣಾ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಮೌನೇಶ್‌ ಕುರುವತ್ತಿ ಅವರು.

‘ಲಾನ್‌ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಬಳಿಕ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಗೆ ಪೂರಕ­ವಾಗಿ ಸುತ್ತಾ ಗ್ರಿಲ್‌ ಹಾಕಲಿದ್ದು, ಶೀಘ್ರವೇ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಕಚೇರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪ ಕಳುಹಿಸ­ಲಾಗುವುದು. ಧಾರವಾಡದಿಂದ ಈಚೆಗೆ ನಗರಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಇದನ್ನು ಮನವರಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರ: ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಿಗೆ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪರಿಚಯ ಮಾಡಿಸಲು ಕೋಟೆ ಆವರಣದ ಹಳೇ ಡಿ.ಸಿ. ಕಚೇರಿ ಕಟ್ಟಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯೂ ಸಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಜನವರಿ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಮುಗಿಯಬಹುದು. ವೀಕ್ಷಕರಿಗೆ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲೇ ಈ ನೆಲದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪರಿಚಯ ಆಗಲಿದೆ. ತದನಂತರ ಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತರ್ಕಶ್‌ ಮಹಲ್‌್, ಗಗನ್‌ ಮಹಲ್‌, ದಿವಾನೇ ಆಮ್‌, ದೀವಾನೇ ಕಾಸ್‌ ಇತರ ಸ್ಥಳ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಮನವರಿಕೆ ಆಗಬಹುದು.

ಈಗ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಕೋಟೆ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಕೆಲ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧವಿದೆ. ‘ಇದು, ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿತ ಪಾರಂಪರಿಕ ತಾಣ ಆಗಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ ಕೆಲವೆಡೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧಿಸಿ, ಬೀಗ ಹಾಕಿರುವುದು ನಿಜ. ಆದರೆ, ಆಸಕ್ತ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಕಚೇರಿ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿ ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು’ ಎಂದು ಮೌನೇಶ್‌ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದರು.

ಗೋ ಯುನೆಸ್ಕೋ, ಡೆಕ್ಕನ್‌ ಹೆರಿಟೇಜ್‌ ಫೌಂಡೇಷನ್‌, ಇಂಡಿಯನ್‌ ಹೆರಿಟೇಜ್‌ ಸಿಟಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಬೀದರ್‌ನತ್ತ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಪ್ರವಾಸಿ ತಾಣವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪಡಿಸುವ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಡಳಿತ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿವೆ. ಈಚೆಗೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಟೂರಿಸಂ ಫೋರಂನ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಕೂಡಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ, ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ, ಸಂವಹನ ಉತ್ತಮ ಪಡಿಸುವ ಚಿಂತನೆ ಹರಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ಫಲ ನೀಡಿದರೆ, ಪಾರಂಪರಿಕ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಕೋಟೆಯ ಆಚೆಗೂ ತಲುಪಿ, ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸೋದ್ಯಮದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಸರಾಗವಾಗಬಹುದು.

Withering crops and stories of distress greet the central study team

The Inter-ministerial Central Study Team visiting the drought-hit areas in Jewargi Taluks were greeted with stories of distress and the withering crops and the queries from the farmers, with burnt fingers, as to when would they get the compensation for the loss suffered due to the failure of rains.

The Union Government had deputed a 10-member Inter-Ministerial Central Study Team headed by R.B. Sinha, Joint Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation to study the loss suffered in different parts of the state due to the failure of the rains and submit their report at the earliest. The team has been divided to four groups and are currently touring Bengaluru (Rural) and (Urban) districts, Tumkuru, Ramnagar, Hassan, Kolar, Chikballapur, Bidar, Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts from November 19.

Two members of the team Vijaykumar Batla, Assistant Advisor to the Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretariat, and Deputy Commissioner in the Animal Husbandry Department R.K. Gupta visited Aurad, Chigralli, Ijeri, and Yalwar villages in Jewargi taluk. The team had visited the drought-hit villages in Bidar on Thursday.

The farmers like Raju Thippanna who had taken six acres of land on lease in Aurad village and Basappa Madar of Chigaralli village told the team members that they do not have any hope of getting any returns for all the investment made and their toil this year. “Over and above this we would have to borrow money to harvest whatever little left in the field”.

The Central Study team members accompanied by the Deputy Commissioenr Vipul Bansal, told the worried farmers that they were convinced that the loss has been extensive due to the failure of the rains and they would report the actual fact what they have seen in their report to the government.

The team members also wanted to know why the farmers have preferred to grow cotton, which is not usually grown in Jewargi taluk. “This is not a cotton area…probably you have grown this crop after you got good returns in the last two years”.

Earlier, few farmers from other villages of Jewargi led by Basavaraj Patil Naribol, former Zilla panchayat member took serious exception to the central study team not visiting all the affected villages in the taluk. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bansal admonished him and said that it was not proper to speak like that to the central study team, which had selected the villages to be visited based on the inputs they have received.

The Central Study team members assured the agitated farmers that during their tour they would see the affected areas and submit a factual report and get adequate compensation to the farmers. The team members would meet in Bengaluru on November 22 and consolidate the report before meeting the Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department. Immediately on their return they would submit their report to the Union Government.
