Believers celebrated Pandurang Dahi Handi in Bidar on Saturday.
They marched to the Pandurangana Pada (Panduranga’s foot) in the old city of Bidar singing bhajans and abhangs (devotional songs). They performed puja at the Panduranga Temple and broke the Dahi handi, (pot of curds) that had been tied to a long pole.
Belief
Bidar residents believe that Damaji Pant, a devotee of Panduranga was rescued by the lord when the King wanted to initiate legal action against him for feeding the poor during a famine.
The place where Lord Panduranga is supposed to place his foott is called Pandurangana Pada.
